Sabah, Kota Kinabalu - Day 6 (29-June-2008)

Journey to the Top

Waked up at 2am, took an expensive buffet breakfast, then started the journey to the Top at approximately 2.45am. The temperature was about 10degree Celcius. All of us were very well dress expecting the temperature to be colder on top of the mountain. However, about 10 mins after we started, we took off a few layers of the clothes, as we felt suffocated! As we move on, we sweat, and it is easier to walk with lighter clothing.

After about 1 and half hour of climbing up the stairs, trail became rocky, where our Kampung Adidas played an important role. In the dark, we had to follow the white rope to climb up the mountain. As it was very dark, we very much follow the rules and move very slowly. Sometimes need to stop as there was a girl crying in the middle, while there are some people just gave up. We felt so exhausted that every few steps we move, we were in fact looking for nearest big stones for rest. As the sky clears, we managed to see the path better and eventually move faster. Advice from my Dad, do not sit down for rest, just stop and stand to rest, then can regain the energy to move faster. It really works!

This 8.5km signboard shows that Low's Peak is only 200meters away. However, it took me about half an hour to go up.
Yeah! We all reached alas!

We stayed at the peak for about half an hour. Thanks to Maxis, I managed to make a phone call to my parents. It was so touch to hear my parents voice while I am on the top of Mount Kinabalu. Quite unbelievable that I can really make to the top. The view is breathtaking and spectacular.

If this picture was taken years back, maybe I will be at the back of every Ringgit Note.

The same rope used to go up. To reduce the pressure on our knee, we get down the hill like SDU.

After lunch, we all changed to Kinabalu T-Shirt, and ready for the trail back. We walked pretty fast down the hill. Best record is about 10mins per half a kilometer.

When you can see this waterfall, yes, the only water fall at the Timpohon trail, then you are very very close to the end of the trail -> Timpohon Gate.
Kok Hui welcomed us at Timpohon Gate. Hoo Yin was the first to reach in our team. Ee Leng and I were partnered to get down together.

Prove of the trip... 2 certificates showing that we managed to reach the top using Masilau trail to go up and Timpohon trail back.

At night, we checked in North Borneo Cabin again, and repacked our luggage, ready for flight back tomorrow early morning. Very tire, massage with Counterpain before we sleep. Cannot sleep well again.
